Zoom Into Business

A new series of free online classes will continue this February.  They're designed to help ambitious people in North Yorkshire to become self-employed.

The classes are funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) which means there is no charge for participants. However, applicants must be aged 18 or over, of UK or EC nationality, and be unemployed or economically inactive (e.g. retired).

Delivered by Training for Employment (Yorkshire) C.I.C. - a Selby-based organisation - the workshops will focus on business planning, marketing and selling, social media, cash-flow, profit and loss, accounts and taxation.

All learning materials will be provided and if you wish to participate your commitment would be to join a total of six 2-hour classes delivered over Zoom. The first class on the new course is set to begin on Wednesday 6th April, 2022.

Training for Employment is a not-for-profit Social Enterprise established in 2011 as a Limited Liability Partnership (LLP). It currently operates as a Community Interest Company (CIC) to cater for the needs of individuals in Selby, York and North Yorkshire who are seeking to start up their own businesses or become self-employed.

Training for Employment tutors have experience in business training and support, Social Media/I.T. teaching and running small enterprises.  With experience in working for Business Link York and North Yorkshire and, more recently, working closely with Job Centre Plus and other local organisations this organisation has the vision to assist anyone in North Yorkshire region to achieve their goals and improve their lives, via grant funded courses.

Training for Employment offers self-employment workshops to individuals. For unemployed learners, TfE offers these workshops on a fully-funded basis. They are, therefore, free at the point of delivery.

Since 2011 when it started out as an LLP, Training for Employment has helped hundreds of individuals to learn about self-employment, many of whom went on to start successful businesses in a range of industries as diverse as health and beauty, craft-making, sports and fitness coaching, gardening, window cleaning and mobile phone app creation.
